Hi! How long does it usually take to hear back from a waitlist? I read online that sometimes colleges still take people off the waitlist as late as August? If so, does that impact orientation/move-in day at all?
Hi there!
Some students hear back as early as April, others don't hear back until July or August because some colleges have people drop out last minute or a few empty spots left. Make sure you have a backup option, tho I am really not sure how that works since college decisions are traditionally due before May 1st. Yes, I have heard it can be a bit of a scramble with move-in, but colleges have support systems to guide you through it.
Have you written a LOCI? That can play a huge role.

Just to add on to this, be careful about which acceptance you take! If you get offered a spot on the waitlist at another school, you will forfeit the deposit you made at the first school. Because of FAFSA delays, check with individual schools to see when their deposit deadlines are. I know my alma mater moved their deadline to June 15. Also be careful about scholarships! Will you get any financial aid at your waitlisted school? If not, consider whether you should accept if offered.
