Would a B in additional math affect my chances of admission at Harvard?
Answered

I’m a 10th grader studying in an IGCSE school and my boards are currently going on. My predicted grades were all A stars in my subjects except for additional math in which I got a B. If I get the same grades in the finals would this negatively impact my chances for Harvard as the subject is advanced and roughly equivalent to AP calculus. I don’t plan on majoring in math in college and am thinking about pursuing a humanities degree

The short answer is yes. Any grade affects your chances of admission, and a 4.0 is preferable for admission to Harvard. Many students do get in, though, despite less than perfect grades, and so long as you have at least an unweighted 3.8, you will be seriously considered!

Colleges aren't typically going to look at individual grades, they are usually more focused on your overall GPA. Also, if you received a B in a difficult course, colleges will understand that you tried your hardest and know that it was a difficult course to begin with. I wouldn't worry about it!

No, one grade would not.
