I took the SAT in June and got a 1320. My reading & writing score was 720, which is decent, but I ended up getting 600 on the math section because I had a medical issue that occurred during the math section and was unable to complete many of the questions. I'm in my senior year and am unable to retake the exam due to personal issues, so this is unfortunately the best score I will be able to submit, and I also can not take the ACT due to financial issues.
The rest of my statistics are fairly decent, I believe. My weighted GPA is 4.16, I've taken 9 honors classes and am currently taking 4 APs, and I've taken a TON of extra classes and have taken pretty much every English, math, and social studies course my school offers at this point, including electives in those subjects. My extracurriculars are average I believe, including NHS, key club/volunteer work, running a small business/Etsy shop, tutoring other students, a forensic science career mentoring program, and many clubs that my school offers.
Will my SAT score greatly impact my application? Should I apply test-optional? Will I still have a chance at getting into Harvard?
I recommend applying test-optional - this will neither hurt your application nor benefit it, which is better than the purely negative effects of submitting your current score. It is certainly possible to get accepted to Harvard if you apply test-optional.
Though submitting a test score is not required, submitting a high score (at least a 1500 SAT/33 ACT) is now an extra achievement that can give you a boost in the admissions process. In order to retake an exam and potential reap these benefits, ask your high school guidance counselor if they can issue you a fee waiver - this will allow you to take the ACT for free.
Hope this helps!
Of course, you do! Remember that some colleges, (like Harvard) allow you to apply without your test scores. But if you really want to include the SAT scores you could always retake it.
