ok so, i have a question. how exactly do scholarships work?? i feel like I'm kind of behind cuz I don't exactly understand it yet. like how do I get a scholarship?? don't I need a credit card to get a scholarship? or does a card with the scholarship money get sent to me? if I did need a credit card how would I get one when I'm only 16?
also, is 11th grade too early to start applying to colleges? is 11th grade to early to start applying for scholarships?
im sorry for the question spam. it just that this confuses me TvT
Hi! To answer all of your questions:
Scholarships are available on various websites such as https://bold.org/ or https://scholarships360.org/scholarships/top-scholarships-for-high-school-juniors/. Some require you to write an essay or fit a specific criteria. But there are some that are no essay, which means as long as you fit the requirements, you can apply. Scholarships from sites like these are very hard to win though, since many MANY students apply for them.
You do not need a credit card for a scholarship, usually once you win they will send you additional information about how to receive the money.
11th grade is too early to apply for college, normally you would apply in the fall of your senior year! But make sure you have started looking at schools you would like to apply to by now!
11th grade however is NOT too early to apply for scholarships! There are plenty available for current high school juniors.
Hope this helps! Good luck! :)
thank you so much for the response! this is super helpful! <3
when you get a scholarship, the money doesn’t go into your bank account or anything. Instead, I believe when you apply to colleges and get accepted to one of them, the scholarship money goes straight to the college to pay your tuition, books, etc. 11th grade is too early to apply to colleges since you probably don’t have all the highschool credits needed to get into most colleges. There might be some scholarships for 11th graders specifically but I can’t think of any off the top of my head
thx for helping me out :)
