Advice

Guys suggest some Initiatives to take as school prefect or even as a student, as I'm not sure lols whether I'll win the election for prefect or not! I'm more interested in highlighting the importance of custodian staff, thus suggest some Initiatives to facilitate the janitors etc and express gratitude for their services.

I am a prefect at my school, and the main thing that I have been working on is getting the school morale up in general. This way, people are happy to follow the rules, get better grades, work harder, and are happier in general. I do this by talking about teachers in the most positive way possible and organizing birthday parties for them (they're small and silly, but they work wonders), organizing fun little service projects, and making sure that the lonely people find groups. If there is ever conflict, I try my hardest to get those in conflict to work it out themselves instead of acting as an arbiter.

As for your idea with the janitorial staff, a great idea would to be throw them mini birthday parties too! Ask students to bring small gifts, or ask a teacher to host a special lunch for them. Otherwise, you could try to talk to the higher ups and get them to have a "Janitor Appreciation day" in which students are encouraged to write notes to the janitors and thank them for their work, to get to know them, etc. Good luck on winning the election, and keep in mind that you don't need to be a prefect to be a leader :)
