Should I create an email for college mail?
Answered

Hi! Rising junior here looking to create an email for college mail. I was thinking of doing firstname.lastname.college@gmail.com . Would you recommend doing this email address? I don't know if it is wrong to include the word college in the email address. Would colleges want to think that they had your personal email rather than just an email that you're using for a bunch of colleges? Please let me know your advice! Thank you!

If you do not already have a professional email address (like firstname.lastname@whatever.com), it's a great idea to start a new email to deal with college mail (and any other relevant academic opportunities). If you are looking to create one just for college—for organizational purposes—that works too! Colleges don't care what your specific handle is, as long as it is appropriate and professional.

Personally, I created a college-only email. It is just (firstnamelastname###@whatever.com). It helped me a lot with organization and getting rid of the constant college emails with my personal ones. I make sure to check it consistently and unsubscribe from any schools I am not interested in.

Hope this helps!

Yes, I would recommend making a email just for college because when it's time for admissions you can use only that email and make sure that your not getting it in any other personal emails so it's not cluttered and it'll be much more organized:)
