Should I take Calc 3 next year?

Hi! So I'm thinking ahead right now to senior year, and since I'm currently in AP Calc BC right now, I will have the option to take Calc 3 in my senior year. I'm planning to major in aerospace engineering or mechanical engineering, and so I'm not sure if I should take the course or not, especially since I will have completed the necessary math credits for graduation by the end of this year. If I don't take the course, I have the option to fill it with other courses from my school, or do an Independent Study, where I would find a mentor outside of the school to do something else not offered by my high school. (For example, I'm currently researching and writing a paper with a professor in engineering for my Independent Study this year.) What should I do?

Hi!

Personally my advice would be to look at your application stats. If you're looking low on extracurriculars, a mentorship could be a really sharp edge for you, they show that you really do have interest in the field.

However, if you feel like Calc 3 is a class you'd do well in and that would boost your GPA, then I'd take the class. It's really more of a 'deciding what'd be best for your chances' type thing.

Hope this helped!
