Will dropping a class (a W grade) hurt my admissions chances?
Answered

I really want to drop out of a class because it is stressing me out so much and overwhelming me. I didn't drop it initially within the first week because I didn't realize how difficult the workload would be until three weeks in. I think if I dropped out of the class, I would get a WP (withdraw pass), not a WF (withdraw fail), but I'm still worried that it will stain my transcript and application to selective colleges. Will it hurt my admissions chances?

Thank you for your insight.

It really just depends on which college you are applying to, and if you have multiple WP's. If you have just one, most colleges will look over this.

If you’re worried about it staining your transcript, I’d make sure to talk to my guidance counselor about it. You can always try and find a tutor if you end up not dropping the class
