I’m thinking about pursuing something healthcare related in college, so I’m looking for some internships or research projects related to that. However, it’s really hard to find healthcare related internships in junior year, and I’m not sure how to start a research project without spending hundreds of dollars. What are some ways for me to get healthcare related internships or a research project without spending tons of money? Also, any other advice for pursuing healthcare, would be appreciated :)
Some hospitals allow participants 16 and up to shadow a nurse or a doctor!!!
This CollegeVine blog post lists some healthcare-related internships.
As for doing a research project, you could write a paper independently. You do not have to conduct research in a lab to do this - you could approach the project like writing an academic paper by synthesizing existing medical research data into a unique argument. Then, you could submit your paper to the National High School Journal of Science. They may publish your research in one of their journals. Even if they do not, you can still put down your independent research paper in your EC list. Some colleges will allow you to submit it with your application as well.
Hope this helps!
Some hospitals do accept students to be an intern at the hospital. I’m actually going to be doing that at my local hospital!
