Answered

hi, I have recently been trying to get more involved in extra-curriculars. however, I don't really know how to get involved in them. how can I look into extra-curriculars that don't involve school that can help me get into colleges?

Hi @ivanPR!

I would definitely try taking up a part-time job if you are old enough as this shows colleges responsibility and initiative. Also, try looking at possible volunteer opportunities as they are HUGE for college applications. I personally joined the Beta Club at my school to be able to find volunteer opportunities easier (you could also join NHS) but you definitely find volunteer opportunities just by looking them up. Some out-of-school volunteer opportunities I did was volunteering at a marathon, A flag football special Olympics tournament, and stem night at an elementary school.

Here is CollegeVine's list of over 900 extracurricular ideas. Extracurriculars that are conducted outside of school, online, or independently (e.g. starting a business) can all be even better than in-school activities. Hope this helps!
