Is having a job during the school year good for college?
Answered

Hey everyone, so I have a job at Starbucks and I was wondering if that would help me a lot in college apps. Thanks!

Hi @astudent!

Having a job during the school year is a good addition to your application as it demonstrates that you are taking up financial responsibility at a young age. It also proves your ability to handle coursework along with a job, which you might have to do in college if your financial condition is not good enough to pay the tuition and other costs. Moreover, a job helps develop soft skills like communication and teamwork that will be useful in life.

Good luck with your applications!

As others have said, having a job will look great to colleges! It shows that you are mature, hard-working, and responsible. Perhaps most of all, having a job will build your real world skills in teamwork, leadership, communication, and working with a diverse array of people. For these reasons, full-time employers after college will also appreciate your Starbucks experience. Hope this helps!

Yes! Any work experience will look good on college apps. Especially if you keep up good grades, it shows that you are a good student and good at balancing school/work/life. The more activities, the better! Just make sure to show that you dedicated a lot of time to it.
