I have pretty average academics (A+ average all year) and I haven't taken my tests yet because my school is odd and will be making us take them this upcoming year, but hopefully, I get decent scores on those! I'm interested in BME and agriculture.
While I try my best to do well in academics I'm more concerned with showing how I'm passionate in stuff I'm actually interested in. So far I have:
-Created an efficient composting system at my school and got to present it at NYLC conference (national youth leadership council)
-Club leader and student mentor (Community service club)
-Member of clubs catered to my interests (Hispanic heritage, outdoors club, art club)
-Volunteer at GLAM (girls learning advanced math) and local soup kitchens
I'm doing an internship later this year! I just would appreciate an outside perspective on what should or could be added.
I suggest taking up leadership positions in the clubs that you have been a consistent and active member of (it's a bonus if it ties in with the theme/interests presented), and maybe take up a summer job at a local diner or tutoring center or clothing store, etc. Other than that you have a solid resume.
If I may ask, what type of internship will you doing?
Good Luck!
You have an impressive profile.
You still have time so you can add some more activities to your profile. My suggestion would be to take up activities that are innovative and unique.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
The points that stand out on your resume are the NYCL Project, Internship and Club leader as they indicate initiative, curiosity and teamwork. Focusing your volunteer work on 2 unique places with consistent volunteering for a couple months or even years would show a great sense of character and dedication. In order to strengthen your participation in other interest clubs, taking any type of leadership position would help.
