Extracurriculars

Hey everyone!

Academically, I have a pretty strong profile and I currently have a class rank of 2. However, my extracurriculars are really lacking. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for activities that I can join to really boost my chances in my senior year.

Current Extracurriculars:

-math team (10,11,12)

-latin club (10,11,12)

-student council (class president -11,12)

Thanks!

I highly recommend joining theatre! I have been in ut throughout my whole high school career. It is an amazing thing to do because you get the chance to show your commitment skills and leadership skills. You can also form really good bonds with your directors which can help lead to good recommendation letters! Hope this helps!

Internships and a passion project would look great on your resume.

Find internships that cater to your interest (STEM, Lit, Humanities, Politics, etc). You can find these internships online like social media or simply search "[insert area of interest] internship high school". You can also talk with your guidance counselor to help you look which is great if you need guidance, but don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and just apply! Most internships don't require prior experience and are a great learning experience. They also look amazing on applications. May I ask what area you'd like to study or are interested in?

Passion projects are projects that you know you can put your heart into and make an impact. This impact can range from big to small, but whatever size these projects are, it's important to showcase different traits so AOs (admissions officers) can get a sense of who you are and the change you want to make! Work with classmates/companies/organizations to bring your project to the fullest. Spread the word on social media! Just make the project true to you and the change you want to make.

Also, try getting leadership positions in the clubs you're in! That would help a bit too!
