Should I talk about a extracurricular in depth even though It might be mentioned in a letter of Rec?

I want to talk about my experience volunteering at an aquarium in one of my supplements. It specifically asks how an extracurricular activity has shaped you. I am wondering if I should choose a different extracurricular or experience other than what might be mentioned already in my letter of rec. I do not know what my letter of recs looks like, but when teachers asked me questions for this letter two of them I explained about volunteering at the aquarium. What should I do?

Tricky one! It's up to you; you would be able to describe your volunteering activities more specifically than your teachers but if there are other things you find important, then that may be the way to go. It really boils down to if this is the main thing about YOU that you really want to highlight or if you have other interests you want to share somehow.
