Ive taken my PSAT and got 880. 450 on my reading and writing and 430 on my math. I googled the average PSAT score and it says the average is 920 overall 480 for math and 430 on reading and writing. Does it really matter that my score is only a little off.
Colleges never see your PSAT scores, so a lot of people say they don't matter. The only reasons they matter are 1) it gives students an idea of how they would do on the SAT in the future so they can study accordingly 2) is it was the NMSQT PSAT, high scores can qualify you for merit scholarships BUT you must score very well.
how well do you need to score on average to qualify for the scholarship? I only ever took the psat 8-9 (scored 1400 out of 1440) and now am studying for the SATs. Should I focus more on studying for the NMSQT??
The qualifying score depends on your state. Here is a helpful link:compassprep.com/national-merit-semifinalist-cutoffs/
Was your PSAT score from October? I have not received mine yet, so I am a little concerned about my own! Hoping there's just a delay and not a major issue...
