I am wondering what extracurriculars I should do, I am in my Junior year and have only volunteered but I do not know what else I should do. My high school doesn't have sports so that is not an option.
Hey Jasmart! Here’s a couple extracurriculars that most schools offer:
-If your school has a newspaper, you can take pictures for it, write for it, or help organize it visually.
-Key Club is super common in high schools, it helps you get volunteering hours and looks GREAT on a resume.
-If there’s a school play or musical, you could do something in house, which means you’d be in charge of the background music, microphones, lights, sound effects, etc. This might change depending on what your school’s play/musical is.
-Robotics club shows that you’ve engineering skills or you’re interested in computer science
-If you have a weighted GPA of 90% or higher, I recommend talking to a guidance counselor about National Honor Society. It’s hard to get in to and takes a lot of dedication but looks great on an application!
-Remember that you can also start a club! Make sure it’s okay with your school and you meet the requirements. Some ideas for clubs are debate, fitness, cultural awareness, and gaming (board games or online). Starting a club is a good sign of leadership!
Hope this helps!
Does your school have any clubs related to your hobbies? I am in a few clubs (besides my other extracurriculars).
Do they have a band? You could learn an instrument or dance with them. I do colorguard within my band (flags) and I love it. If they don't but you are interested you could look up if there are any dance studios near you or people that could give you lessons on an instrument. JOIN CLUBS! If your school offers any do as many as you can
