What should I major/minor in?

I've been having a hard time deciding on what majors to focus on going into college.

I know business or some sort of sub-major under that would be the best idea, but if I was focusing on my interests I wouldn't choose that.

I would major under something related to the environment (sustainability kind of thing), film, journalism, or maybe even political science as I'm interested in politics.

I love Journalism / broadcasting, but I know it's a dying industry and what remains is incredibly competitive.

Do what you love! Perhaps you will be the one to reignite the flame or find new usage for the industry!

Also, some schools offer dual majors; then you would have something to fall back on if the journalism industry does fade out.

About minors- my advice is to choose something related OR something entirely different. Really, whatever looks interesting and helpful to you :) You could have a very general minor (EG, English) to offer more job options or a very specific minor that may help you get more specific jobs. It's really up to you! However, if you are concerned about journalism, doing a more general minor may offer you more 2nd options.

Hope this helps :)

What about communication studies, there's a good range of jobs within it. But honestly if you love journalism, I would say to go for it.
