Decisions for Summer

Hello, I am a junior and I am considering enrolling in college programs online during my summer break. I would like to know if you have any experience with online summer college and if you would recommend it to others. I was also considering not doing it because this is the summer before my senior year, and I want to make it special.

What should I do????

I did online summer college, and it honestly did not make a difference in me enjoying my summer!! I would totally recommend it, I had plenty of time to complete assignments because we were allowed to work at our own pace. I would do work for maybe 1-2 hours once or twice a week and then enjoy the rest of the time with my friends/family. Before vacation, I would do all my work before going, so I would not have to worry about assignments. You can also take your computer to work during down time as well. I honestly loved how much less stressful it was and I definitely plan on doing it again.

It depends on what course you take. If you are doing Pre-College, and if you don't want to do "schoolwork" over the summer, pick a course that you will enjoy, that maybe align with your interests and hobbies. I totally recommend Brown University Pre-College! They have the most pre-college selections (both on-campus and online) of all colleges. If you do want to do college programs over the summer, do what you enjoy! I'm majoring in art when I get to college, so I'm focusing on art courses or portfolio development.

Hope that helps!

@AmeliaM, I recommend not doing summer college- summer should be a time to rest up for that last part of your marathan because college is another race.

However, there are smaller ways you can use the summer to your advantage. Part time jobs, extracurricular activities you personally enjoy, essay writing, preparing to apply for college, etc. Do enjoy your summer but just be aware and spend your time wisely. Rest is very important, and taking little steps during the summer (like beginning the college essays) will reduce your senior stress so you aren't as tired during the school year.

Hope this helps!
