So my dream school is Wake Forest. It has been for years and every school I look at doesn't compare to it. It is literally the perfect school for me in every aspect. But, I put in my info and I have such a slim chance of getting in. I wish my GPA was higher even though it is pretty good (so I have been told) and I want my SAT score to be much higher. I just don't know how much that all will actually help me. How do I increase my chances in an effective way in the remainder of junior year?
Collegevine chancing is super off-- so much of your competitiveness relies on factors not contained in the Collegevine profile. Compare your GPA and SAT score to the average accepted by Wake Forest. Then based on that you should be able to figure out if you need to increase either.
Stay involved in ECs related to your major of interest. Colleges want to see demonstrated passion and proof that you will go places with it! Show potential.
Another BIG tip- write TONS of essays. Look up common essay prompts and write, write, write. Get peer feedback here on Collegevine so you know what areas to practice and brush up on. Get feedback from adults, family members, etc. Essay brainstorming/writing is something you can do over the summer. Don't procrastinate that admissions essay. Start early and write an essay like no other!
Hope this helps and lmk if you have any questions.
thank you so much that makes me feel so much better!
No problem! Lmk if you have any questions.
I would take more extracurriculars and seek out leadership positions within them. Extracurriculars can help a lot! ALso definitely try raising your SAT score
A good SAT score would definitely help you out a lot! However, you can also do things over the summer, such as getting a job, volunteer/community service, pre-college programs, play a sport, etc. they all will increase your chances into getting in as they are ECs! That's generally all that I know but I hope it helps.
