Hi! I am a junior with a 3.9 unweighted GPA including many strong extracurriculars, AP classes, honors classes, and 2 college courses for my foreign language. I am in NC and I really want to get into NC State or UNC Chapel Hill because it would align with my plans to be in the Air Force since it is close to a reserve. I would be a first-generation college student and just want to know if I have a good enough essay, would I be able to get into either? If not, how can I increase my chances?
Start doing activies and extracurricular that aligns with the air force, or anything related towards it. I would say join ROTC, ROTC has a lot of opportunities regarding the air force, army, navy and anything else.
Thank you!
Honestly, your resume seems fabulous as is! And lucky for you, the acceptance rate for both NC State and Chapel Hill are much higher in-state than out-of-state. NC State's in-state acceptance rate is 54%, while Chapel Hill's is 43.1% (over five times higher than their out-of-state acceptance rate!). If it makes you feel any better, I know at least 10 people who applied to both schools and none of them got rejected from either one (all in-state), and your stats are already substantially more impressive than some of theirs. I'd recommend honing in on your essays to really boost your chances - you seem like you have a great shot! Best of luck to you! :)
Thank you so much!
