I'm really interested in going to Brown but CollegeVine makes me nervous because it rates me at a 5%. I am a current junior (rising senior) and am planning to take the Digital SAT again in October. I WILL BE APPLYING EARLY DECISION
Intended Major: Biology or Biomedical Engineering (also try to get in their pre-med program)
- 3.7 Unweighted GPA/ 4.0 Weighted
-SAT Superscore: 1300 (700 English, 600 Math)
- 6 APs (By the end of senior year)
-5 Honors
- 50+ volunteering hours at a child care facility
-350+ volunteering hours at a nursing home
-attempting to get volunteering position at hospital currently
-Work Experience (teaching kids up to 15 years old Martial Arts)
-Red Cross Club
-National Honors Society
-Spanish Prize
-Technical Theatre Award
-St. Bonaventure University Bonnie Scholar Award
-Strong college essay so far (according to my teachers)
-Have an upcoming tour
Honestly, your ECs are pretty solid. Consider a 3-step priority procedure:
-Academics
-ECs
-Sports
The main reason why CollegeVine gives you a 5% for Brown is mainly due to the SATs and your GPA. Frankly, your GPA is more or less decent. The only thing you should brush up on is your SAT score and then, I'm sure your chances are going to go up significantly. Try the AP International Diploma criteria if you haven't already. Also, again, if you haven't already, take a look at Brown's AP requirements.
