AP Science Help!!

Hi guys!

I am a rising senior and really need help with an AP science exam selection. As of now, because of my school schedule, I am unable to fit in an AP science course, so I am planning on self studying for an science exam and taking it for college credit. I am considering AP Environmental Science or AP Psych as I have heard either of those are easier selections for self teaching. The only downside is— at the college I am hoping to attend AP Psych would remove some classes leaving me still with one science credit hour to complete while Environmental Science would knock out all required science credit hours. Thoughts? Any input is appreciated!

I took AP Environmental Science this past year as a junior, and I would highly recommend it for self studying. I can’t speak to AP Psych, but the APES content was pretty simple to grasp, and there are a ton of great resources online (like Mr Smedes on YouTube) which I used to study for my exam, and I thought the test itself was very straightforward. All that to be said, I’d highly recommend APES, especially if scoring well on it will knockout more science credit hours for you!

Thanks so much for the input! I appreciate it! Do you think a 4 or 5 is possible from self studying APES, as that is what I would need on the exam to receive college credit.

Definitely! I'm a (graduated!!) senior who self-studied APES & Psych, and honestly I'd recommend APES over Psych. For me, it seemed like Psych was a lot of memorization of terms (I had a friend send me a Quizlet with like 800+ terms), whereas APES had easy to understand content. The exam itself is very straightforward, and there are a lot of resources out there to help you. As long as you follow the Khan Academy content (I used albert.io but either course works well), you will be on track to get a 4 or 5!

Awesome! Thanks! I appreciate it. I think I’ll go with APES then!

Hi! I recently took APUSH- my school doesn't offer AP classes, so I had to self-study. Considering how tough APUSH is, I never thought I'd be able to go through with it, but I did! It went surprisingly well.

I have had friends who studied for APES and have gotten a 5. Just use Khan Academy. It's by far the best. I don't think you need to worry about self-studying for APES.

Best of luck!
