The "Pointy" Student

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any advice for a student who hasn't really devoted their time to a singular project/activity.

I'm an upperclassman, so really honing in my interests is kind of difficult now. In addition, I'm still not sure of what I really want to spend all my time on.

My academics are pretty good, but I know a lot of institutions look for students with QUALITY extracurriculars and I'm really worried I don't have that. I have quantity, but that wasn't intentional and I really didn't wake up and see that until recently.

What do you guys think?

Hey! I’m a senior in the same situation and after hearing from lots and lots of admissions counselors, I’ve learned that being well rounded, and having tested the waters of many different areas of interest, can actually be beneficial to your application. I think the most important thing to do is be sure that you’re describing your extracurriculars well once you start working on your activities list. That can mean listing team accomplishments that happened while you were contributing to the team, or describing the difficulties the teams faced. A lot of the times, your own skills/traits can carry through from interest to interest. You can be a team player or a leader or good under pressure when it comes to any extracurricular. That something colleges will definitely appreciate! Hope this helps!
