Hey! I'm also a junior and haven't taken it yet but I advise you to take the SAT as early as possible. To be honest the PSAT is something we shouldov taken in 10th, the earlier you take the test the more time you have to take your 2nd or even third :)

You can always take both! I'm a junior, and I just took the September SAT, but I will be taking the PSAT/MNSQT in October. I also plan to take the SAT again in March in the hopes of raising my score. You should definitely take the SAT your junior year though. If you submit early applications for college at the start of senior year, you're gonna want a good SAT score, so you should start as early as possible. You can always take it again senior year if you need a higher score. I hope that helps!

Hi! I'd highly recommend that whether or not you take the PSAT this year, you should definitely take your SAT this year. Getting that score in hand this year can slightly take away stress of your senior year! Good luck!! <3 :)

Hello! My school does something interesting where they make the juniors take the PSAT in October (1st semester) and the SAT 2nd semester with prep throughout the classes. We also took the PSAT in the 10th, 9th, and 8th grade... Every school is different, but I recommend taking the PSAT to understand what you are dealing with and what you need to improve. Although, it is important that you get it done as soon as possible.

I agree with @Sett...the sooner you start, the better. It takes longer to crack this test than most people anticipate. I am a senior and I am extremely glad I took the SAT fall of junior year. I took the PSAT as well (worth studying for due to NMSQT, please take it seriously!) and the scores were very similar since I took them in the same week (SAT: 1320, PSAT: 1360). The first SAT should basically count as a diagnostic test...you are welcome to study for it if you have the time, but do not expect it to be a once and done deal. I studied for a month before my first SAT & PSAT and I saw a 200+ score improvement (used Khan Academy only 20 minutes a day)! I retook the SAT, but in digital version, last March. Now I am planning to take it October, November, and possibly December. Hopefully between those 3, I will get the score I want. It takes time to build your way up and I am relieved that I studied early. Nerves alone can affect the first couple test experiences. You have to get into the swing of it!

Hope this helps and lmk if you have any questions!

I think that getting the SAT out of the way could be a big stress reliever, plus then you’d have time to retake, but if you really don’t feel ready at all, you could take a PSAT to get a feel for the test and what it will be like. I would say just do whatever makes the process easier and smoother to you (it’s stressful enough as is!) and keep in mind that you can superscore, too!
