I haven't done any extracurriculars in school because I always thought I wasn't going to college now I want to but I'm way behind and I have no idea where to start all I got going for me is a 3.8 weighted gpa and no one looks a gpa please help đŠ đ
Hi donât worry youâve got plenty of time! A 3.8 is a great start; keep that up, try to take rigorous classes these next two years and make a goal for whatever standardized test youâre taking. From there I would research majors and just figure out what you want to do (you donât have to have a whole career plan, just know what youâre passionate about). Then you can find volunteer opportunities nearby related to your field of study/passion, which will show your dedication and improvement over time. Another thing you can do is look at the clubs your school has or form your own club (I would join NHS if your school has it, which will help with organizing volunteer hours). Other than that, practice your writing skills for essays, start thinking of essay ideas and teachers for rec letters. My last piece of advice might just be to know what colleges youâre aiming for. Sorry this ended up being kind of long, I hope some of this helps, best of luck!
Honestly, your GPA is great! If your school offers job shadowing, then definitely take a look at it and visit some professions. This will help you see what job settings and other factors you like and dislike. If you enjoy organizing things, you can help at your library at school. It's not as stressful but can count as an extracurricular. Join clubs to show your contribution to your school, and participate in events. Try to stay on top of your studies and do well on the SAT/ ACT if you plan to take them.
