Hey guys!
Does anyone know of any resourceful tips/advice for a junior in high-school? I've been prepping for college since 8th grade and I want to make sure I go above and beyond academically, and socially this year! Do colleges take social activities into account too? (Football games, School Dances, School events, etc.). I go to these events occasionally and I'm starting to wonder if colleges take how involved you are with your school into consideration when accepting students into college? I'm extremely involved academically, but it feels like I could do more like create more connections with teachers, staff members, professors at colleges, etc. Any tips? Thanks!
This isn't exactly related to what you mentioned, but my biggest advice is to start your college tours, especially if you want to go far! If you live in New England and are considering a school out west, say Missouri, book that flight! If you can't afford to do in person tours, many schools have Zoom info sessions that you can sign up for to get more info and see what the college is like.
I don't think social events are taken into account. You could try and get some internships/activities by asking some people you have good connections with (Teachers, other students you know are doing well academically, etc). If you were to do something like an internship it is probably best to relate it to what you want to major in, it shows that you are committed to your goals and looks good to colleges.
