hey please give advice if u can :,) so im currently taking ap pre calculus and honestly im not good at math or algebra ... these past few weeks i've been struggling with a school-life balance and i spend os much time trying to learn the content just to forget it despite reviewing later on, tbh i think its because i have so many other things to remember bc i have 4 other APs as well. im not doing well at all and my grades and gpa are definitely going to suffer if i don't improve also, i feel like for my health and life satisfaction dropping down to honors is the right decision but at the same time, honors pre calc has exams as well and they're worth 70% of our grade just like AP the only difference might be the workload so i'm not sure if it's even worth dropping down since I might struggle and get low marks there as well. should i tough it out and stick with the AP since i'll probably struggle in honors as well or do i make life easier and drop down? if it helps, im taking APUSH, AP Lang, AP Psych, and AP Research as well but last year I also dropped an AP which makes me afraid to start a pattern. anything helps thank you <3
If it were me, I’d probably just drop it. You’ve got a LOT and you’re doing pretty incredibly, don’t beat yourself up over this. I’m in regular pre-calc, and I’m struggling too, math isn’t my thing :’) I wish you the best, make whatever decision feels right for you <3
I did not like Precalculus at all. Since it's a new class, it's the least organized. At least in my school, the organizing for the test materials and study guides were horrible. They make the homework not required, and they give us test guides, and once everyone bombs a test, they come out and reveal that the homework was the real test guide. There are also a minimal level of minor assignments in my school so we had no chance of recovering a bad grade without either a test or a quiz.
something to consider is if you will have to pay to take the AP exam or if your school pays for them! if you aren't confident and money is tight, it might be wise to drop it if you don't want to spend ~$100 on an exam you think you'd fail in anyways. plus, you can always consider taking AP Calc next year after doing a year of honors pre-calc!
