Hello everyone,
As an international student, Canadian, I have a dream of attending an Ivy League but there are so many factors in my way . . . SAT and GPA. I would start with the SAT. I have learnt that this is one of the most important factors to even be considered by American universities. I plan to get a 1580 but the problem is what do I study with and when? I'm currently in my junior year but I don't think I might write it until my senior year in fall. I've seen so many videos on writing SATs early but I believe doing it well once rather than numerous times - it might come across as negative to Universities. What do I study with? I am currently using the Khan Academy digital SAT course to understand each and every concept, afterwards, I plan to different verified textbooks for extra preparations as well as watch videos and complete practice tests. Is there more I should do? How hard is the SAT if properly studied for?
The next part of my question is GPA. Like I said, I'm Canadian. We don't have APs or honours like Americans. My GPA is 4.0 unweighted but in comparison to other participants is it enough?
Look, what matters is your score and your tries. Give it two times, one u can try now after ur done with concepts, the second later when u are prepared and want to try to get a higher score even if it’s a good one. U can study with a bunch of articles, YouTube videos and even khan academy is nice. Everything ur doing is perfect just make sure that you learn from your mistakes along the way.
About your gpa, your biggest competitors are your classmates, so even if your school doesn’t offer aps (mine doesn’t either) it doesn’t matter. You have to be better than those around you, they’re your only competition, it’s amazing how you’ve kept a perfect gpa.
Thank you
You’re welcome ☺️
I would suggest signing up for the earliest one possible to gauge your strengths and weaknesses. From there, I would do full-length practice tests and work on the subject you didn't do as well in (for me it was English). I've taken 3 and the familiarity that comes with taking it multiple times helps a lot!
