International student GPA

I'm an international student from Colombia, i want to apply to universities in the US, but I have two concerns:

- My school doesn't offer AP/IB/Honors/etc.

- I don't have a weighted GPA, and my unweighted GPA is 4.65/5

How does this affect my application and what do you suggest I do?

With a GPA as high as that, I think they would only ask you about how extensive your coursework was. In America, an unweighted GPA only goes up to 4.00, while a weighted goes up to 5.00. That being said, may take your GPA as weighted, which, if that's the case, the only thing you should worry about is having extracurriculars. Universities in America look for, not only academic excellence, but the ability to balance outside life (extracurriculars) with school. Be sure when applying to show off your personality; admissions officers will not be impressed on how many “big words” you know. Also, make sure to apply to as many scholarships as possible because college is only getting more expensive. I hope I helped!

Colleges will see how many (in your case none) APs, Honors, and IBs your school offered and compare the number of those courses you took to how many are offered. They will see that your school lacked those options, so don’t stress!
