I'm currently a high school junior. I Dual enrolled at the local college. I have a 3.98 W GPA. After high school I want to study Forensic science or engineering but have yet to decide. Currently, towards engineering, I have started to take classes in the 3-year engineering CTE program and will complete my final year senior year. For forensic however I only just started taking Anatomy and Physiology this year. I have not taken any AP classes, but my school offers them in computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, and calculus. Since I have yet to decide between the two, I want to take classes that are related to both of them. I am asking for advice on what classes to take during the spring and summer next year through DE and what to take senior year. Also, which career would you choose?
I personally would pick engineering...I wouldn't particularly relish having forensic science as my career for a good portion of my life, lol (but I am sure you enjoy it if you are considering it as a major). Additionally, engineering seems more versitale with more career options. This could be helpful in finding jobs. The less specific your major is, often, the more job possibilities. But this, of course, depends on the student and their career goals. I personally choose a more specific major (horticulture) over a general major (such as agriculture or biology). Biology or agriculture would have provided more employment options, but for my goals, I need to be specialized in horticulture.
Another reason I voted for engineering was that there are more universities offering engineering. You will have more choices. This can be important to students who do not have a "dream college" because you can apply to and visit many varying colleges that have your major to find out if you prefer big or small, close or far, private or public, etc.
Hope this is helpful and lmk if you have any questions.
