should I retake the act for a 36?

Hi! I just took the ACT for the first time last month and I got a 35. I am obviously very very happy with that score however I did psych myself out during the test which led me to score a little lower on the reading and science portion then I did in my practice tests. What I'm saying is that I feel like I could score a 36 on my second try if I study hard enough. My question is, is it worth it to take the ACT one more time for a possible 36 or would it not make much of a difference on my application? I do plan on applying to prestigious schools. I still haven't taken the SAT but math isn't my strong suit so I don't expect to be more successful on the SAT than the ACT as math is weighted more there.

a 35 is an absolutely amazing score, but there’s no harm in taking it one more time and just seeing if you’re able to get a 36, i’d definitely encourage you to try again just for kicks and who knows- you might get that perfect score

I think you should totally retake the ACT, although you could absolutely move on and not take anymore tests. Amazing job! Colleges do not have a preference between SAT and ACT. I highly recommend sticking with the ACT because you are already on a roll with it. I took the SAT only and I wish I had done the ACT instead. The SAT has become a whole new ball game, testing more difficult subjects now that it is digital. Also, the SAT is normally offered at different testing centers than the ACT, which is another factor that needs adjustment. It took me 3 times going into an unfamiliar test center for me to feel comfortable there. Nerves caused by unfamilarity with the test center can affect your testing performance, so it's definitely a factor to consider. You may not want to go through all the trouble of figuring out a new center, unless you can take it at your own high school.

Great job and keep up the good work!
