low GPA

Hi yall,

So, the most significant setback on my resume is def my low GPA. I have solid ECs and i am taking a few AP classes. but I did not know what I was doing freshman year I had a 3.3 UW GPA ) . this GPA is setting me back so badly. My sophomore year was better with a bit better w a 3.57 UW, and I'm trying my hardest in JR year. Are there any ways to compensate for my low grades if you want to attend a decent school?

Hi there! My best advice is to just focus on getting mostly A's so that you can get your GPA up to what you want it to be when you're ready to apply for college. Obviously, colleges will not ignore your performance freshman year, but if you show a significant upward trend in performance for the rest of your years, I think you'll be alright, however, I can't speak for every college and what their standards are. I have had the same issue as you with not doing so well freshman year and the advice I'm offering you is the way I've been doing it ever since sophomore year.
