I've heard that the UC schools don't really give money,, in scholarships or financial aid, to out of state students. Should I still try and apply to see what kind of financial package I get? I am looking at UCLA and UC Berkeley specifically, and they're quite expensive.
you can apply for merit scholarships but the UCs do not give any need-based aid to OOS students no matter your income level
Unfortunately, UCs do not give out-of-state students any aid.
I would recommend adding your financial information to your CollegeVine profile. When you do that, CollegeVine will show you an estimated cost of attendance for students in similar financial situations. That should provide an indication of what you can expect for the overall cost of attendance. You can also fill out the net price calculator for the UC schools, as that will also provide an estimate of your COA (Cost of Attendance).
If you high academics you should check out sites like CollegeVine or Niche to get scholarships. I think someone mentioned merit based ones, which is a good alternative, but for financial aid you have to move in-state.
