CSS Profile for non custodial step parent if they are separated
Answered

My non custodial parent does not live with my non custodial step parent. Do both of these people have to fill out the CSS Profile? Or is it just my custodial parent and my non custodial parent? Does my non custodial parent have to get their former spouse's data or can they just put in their own data?

Hi @Karla999,

At the end of the day, it depends on the institution. Some colleges only need one parent's information, while others require a separate CSS profile from each biological parent. If you do not have contact with the non custodial parent, you can fill out a CSS Profile Waiver Request form.

As for step-parents, if your custodial parent is married, your stepparent will have to complete a profile as well. If you're unsure about which parents need to fill out the form, I'd suggest logging onto the CSS profile website for more answers, or directly navigating your prospective schools' financial aid website for specific information. You can also contact the admissions department where you can ask questions specific to your family status.

Hope this helps!
