I am a sophomore in high school and I really need to start looking. What are some good websites for scholarships?
Hope those help!
Personally I hateeee applying to scholarships with Bold.org, Niche, College Board, etc they take so much time and then your chances of actually obtaining them is unlikely (although I believe they work so no shade to whoever mentioned it :))because of course you're competing with thousands of people. I haven't really looked into many, but on the other hand there's a website called raise me which gives micro scholarships for academics, extracurriculars, etc from different colleges. I warn that some colleges don't provide these micro scholarship opportunities though so I suggest looking around on there. Also another is "finesseyoureducation" has a good database for scholarships, if you have an advisor you can. Lastly you can ask if there are local scholarships provided so good luck!
I use Bold.org primarily, they have a great list of non-essay scholarships that refresh pretty frequently. They have lots of scholarships that anyone is applicable for, and some good essay scholarships as well.
Niche and Cappex are also pretty good, and Scholarships 360 isn't great for ME but it has a decent amount of essay scholarships.
The BEST advice I can give you is to talk to your school counselor-- you can let them know if you're looking more for essay or non-essay scholarships, a bunch of small grants or one big one... They definitely know how to find the most applicable scholarships you have the best shot of receiving!
I have been to a few websites and niche was pretty good. It had scholarships for many different people, and all over the country.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
Where I live there are some local organizations that offer small scholarships to the students in their area, however, they are mostly for seniors. The good thing about them is that most people don't apply. I would also try to look online for scholarships that are meant for someone to major in what you are interested in if you already know what you want to do. I hope I was able to help you a little.
