Paying for College

Job and School

So, I've acquired the information that I can work on college grounds but I shouldn't make it part of my financial aid. Why should I not?

If the job at college is a Federal Work Study position, then it may affect the rest of your financial aid package. Aid packages can be composed of several different forms of payment, including federal aid, a merit scholarship award from the school, student loans, and FWS.

Sometimes, you will have the option to decline one of these payments in order to make your overall financial aid package better. That may be your case. In any case, you will want to check in with your financial aid office about all of your options for aid. It may still be worth if for you to make FWS a part of your aid package if your school would swap it for a loan as opposed to direct aid. Hope this helps!
