Paying for College

fundraisers
Answered

I am going to a Journalism conference this summer (WJMC) at George Mason University. I received a $1000 scholarship, but how do I (15yo sophomore) earn the other $1400? I've already started a go fund me but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I have too many outside-of-school obligations to take on a part-time job. If someone knows easy fundraisers or money-gaining techniques, please let me know!

Hello there! That's amazing you got a $1000 scholarship!! Amazing job! What I would recommend to do is to first see what you are willing to part with, but do not use Ebay. Rahter, use Facebook Marketplace or ask your parents to help find potential buyers (have old toys you don't want anymore? $1 a piece. Trust me, it'll add up.) I do have to say, making money is not an easy game, and unfortunately, unless your state says otherwise you're too young to get a job. I recommend emailing WJMC themselves, explain your situation, and see if there is a way to get another scholarship, discount, or even a payment plan. It shows integrity, and it does take a lot of bravery to ask for help. So I wish you the best of luck !!
