Some colleges (mostly ivy league ones) offer financial aid for international students. Other than that there are specific loans for international students as well as a good amount of merit/ achievement based scholarships out there.

What I did was make a list of the colleges that I was interested in and checked for each one individually if they offered financial aid for international students or if they had any scholarships available. There are also a few scholarships offered by external organizations, but they often come with strings attached.

Everything else really depends on the country you live in. I am from Germany and most of the scholarships that I could get here are for one to two semesters max. Sometimes banks also offer loans to students but as I said, this is something that is really specific for your country and your financial situation.
