I am a senior in high school, and plan to go to Davenport for a Bachelors in Science of Nursing. I have applied to some scholarships, but have very little time to apply, and want to get as many as I can, so that I can pay as little as possible. Does anyone have advice?
Unfortunately, most of the generic scholarships out there are entered by so many students that it can take years to earn anything. My advice is to find more specific scholarships that you have a high chance of winning- eg, scholarships for future nurses. There are also many that can be earned based on the impact you have had on your community. I think the carson scholars program is one of them.
But by far, the best way to earn scholarships is through the college itself. Most if not all universities have some amount of merit scholarships you can earn 1)based on your application 2) later in college if you keep a high GPA. I am choosing to go to a school that will likely cover over half the cost with merit scholarships.
So sadly, there is no fast way to earn scholarships...I've been entering them for years and still haven't received a cent. The best thing you can do is find ones that you actually have chances of winning (like if you enjoy writing, enter essay scholarships). Otherwise, your application can be the key to scholarships from your school itself.
Hope this helps :) if you have any questions, lmk!
Hi Alayna! I definitely recommend the Bold.org website if you want to apply for some quick and easy scholarships. There are many no-essay scholarships that you can apply for in less than a minute. You can also choose some that are more specific, so you have higher chances of receiving them.
