Hi,
I've been having trouble finding scholarships for the past few months, because they're never for international students, like I look up scholarships for international highschool students, but they're never actually for international highschool students. So i was wondering if any one had any resources, websites or tips on where I could find actual scholarships for international students? Thanks!
The colleges I looked at all offer international student aid. You will have to fill in income and asset declaration as they mostly seem to be need based.
But yes you are right, merrit-based scholarships seem to be rare which seems to be due to the nature of the scholarships.
I think it will be a good idea to get in touch with the colleges that you are interested in and ask them what specific options are available to foreign students. That way you can see what specific options are available to you for the places you are interested in.
There is no harm asking and I believe most colleges will be aware that the fees will be prohibitive to many if not most foreign applicants without more or less substantial financial aid.
There are not a lot of scholarships specifically for international students. My advice is just to apply to scholarships that don't exclude international students because a lot of scholarships state that only US residents and citizens can apply. Bold.org is a good website also you can find scholarships on fastweb. There are also competitions like the Eon Essay Contest and Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest. My advice is to go broad apply to as many scholarships as possible.
