Paying for College

Financial Aid for Living
Answered

Hello,

I am a junior/senior in High School. I am graduating early this year and I am looking for colleges. Although I am online, I am already pretty secure for college tuition because it is free to me in Texas. On the other hand, I do not have any money for living expenses. I wanted to know if there were any grants for living expenses for students that don't have to be paid back? I am not able to get a job at the moment, but I have been wanting to, in order to save money. If anyone knows anything, that would be great! Also, should I take the SAT and ACT? Is it worth it? I know a lot of Universities say they don't really look at your SAT or ACT but would it enhance my chances? Thank you!

It's true that colleges have dialed back on test scores unless you're looking to get into an Ivy League college, but some colleges would take your test scores as an advantage if you scored well! On the other hand, some colleges won't need it at all or won't consider them if you have a killer resume. It won't hurt to take the tests, but it also won't hurt to not!

Hi! So definitely apply for the Pell Grant just to see if you qualify, and the FAFSA. In general, state and federal grants would probably be your best bet.

I also found these websites that I hope are helpful for you:

collegeforalltexans.com/apps/financialaid/tofa.cfm?Kind=GS

comptroller.texas.gov/programs/education/msp/funding/

mytexasfuture.org › adult-college › types-

collegeforalltexans.com › financialaid › tofa2

Hope this helps!
