How to find a college counselor as an international student?

I am a junior and would like to know if it is possible to connect with a counselor/advisor who can assist me in my application to colleges in Australia and USA. I plan to do a foundation year in Canberra then apply for an undergraduate pre-med degree but I have some doubts regarding my application and extracurricular activities. For example, I did on-the-hand rotation job in the ER and other units and volunteered throughout the years, how can I mention this in my application? I need a college advisor to guide me and tell me what I should and shouldn’t mention.

Thank you

hi, maybe in Australia there are some agencies that target sending Australian students to US colleges? If so, you should ask your friends, teachers, and others if possible, to meet as many local independent counselors as possible, and eventually choose the one that u personally feel connected to!

If you want to find counselors in the US, the drawbacks are the time gap + the fact that you guys cant talk directly/face-to/face! But maybe counselors like the College Essay Guy (Ethan Sawyer)? He's pretty famous and you can arrange a meeting with one of his teammates (a counselor) and let them know ur needs! I think they provide essay tutoring, EC building, and more because I've done some research on this team, and also I've already had two meetings with the counselor they sent me! this is not an ad, just me telling u my experience haha! hope this helps a bit!

I'm not sure as to how you would connect with a counselor, but I do know of a really good website that is super helpful for international students! It has helpful resources that provide you with info on how to apply, paying for college, immigrating and living in the U.S., and much more! Here is the link: https://www.edupass.org/

I think you would have to contact each one from your target schools. Even as an international student your school should be able to help you or tell you who to contact. There are lots of preparation guides for applications on the internet that can help you too.
