I'm currently interested in several different schools for many different reasons although when I'm looking at my chancing I've noticed that I'm coming up short in the ap+ department and was wondering how many classes I should look into this coming year (junior year) so that I could have a better chance when applying. as of right now I only have 1 AP class down (AP psychology)
the schools im looking into mostly
UCLA
Duke
Berkeley
Hi @MaddieYoung
I would suggest you take 4 AP classes in junior year as that is what most students in texas do but it also depends on what you like and want to do as a major and with a AP Course its suggested you take the corresponding exam to show your knowledge. The courses I took this year (junior year) is AP Lang, AP Biology, Physics 1, APUSH, and AP Spanish Lang but it all depends on what you want to do. I would suggest you read an article I wrote for the Tallo community specifically on AP Courses for further information. Hope this helps Good Luck!!! Let me know for further questions

@MaddieYoung
I personally took 1 AP in both sophomore and junior year, and I am going to take 3 in senior year. With this imputed into my profile, it lines me up with a lot of colleges I am looking at. I would recommend that you take a minimum of 3 APs in high school for good placement in college
Take as many as your school offers that you would realistically be able to complete!! You don't have to take all the exams, but taking more AP classes will look better on applications. Usually it is recommended that juniors take 2-3 AP's and seniors take 3+ AP's (depending on what your school offers)
It’s really not about how many APs you take, as it is about which ones you take. What would you like to major in?
Ex: Business
AP Micro and Macro
AP Calculus
AP Psychology
Ex: Premed
AP Chemistry
AP Biology
AP Calculus
Ex: Political Science
AP Psychology
AP Gov
AP US History
Ex: Computer Science
AP Comp Sci 1&2
AP Calculus
AP Physics?
I wanna manor in psychology :)
That’s great! I would recommend taking AP Psych, AP English Lang, AP Human Geography, and maybe AP Gov
Also, if your school has sociology classes I would recommend taking those as well! If not, you could take them at a local community college. If you are interested in the neuroscience aspect of psych, maybe take AP Chem and an anatomy class!
