School List Suggestions

What classes should I take in high school if I want to major in psychology/ neuroscience?
Answered

I’m a high school senior and have taken honors biology, honors chemistry, and AP psychology. I’m looking for more classes to take that can prepare me to become a neuropsychologist.

Hello!

For a major in psychology or neuroscience, I think the classes you have now are already putting you on the right track. However, here are some more ideas if you have some empty spots in your schedule. They are also listed from most to least important (As I see them and through minimal research):

- AP Chemistry

- AP Biology

- AP Physics

- AP Computer Science (some areas of neuroscience can include some coding, so having a bit of experience can certainly help)

- AP Calculus

- Anatomy classes (if your school offers them. These would be obviously very helpful)

Hope this helped!

Hi @Ap236

I would suggest taking many of the Science classes but if you want a specific list of courses for Psychology/Neuroscience I would try this link from CollegeBoard and their AP Classes

Good luck!!!

That’s great that you’ve taken classes that surround neuroscience! I would recommend taking AP Chem, AP Bio, and AP Calculus. If your school has anatomy classes or sociology classes, take those! If not, consider taking them at a community college :)
