Does it genuinely matter if the school you attend is prestigious? I'm planning on graduating high school early with the help of dual credit college courses at my local community college and university. To make sure those credits count towards an undergraduate degree as well, I'm going to go to one of the schools in the same system as the colleges I took classes in. However, this college is just a state school but it would be highly beneficial if I were to attend because with the credits I gather in high school it would be possible to graduate college in only 3 years too. This being said since I want a graduate degree from a better school, would that school be more impressed if I graduated college a year early or if I went to a better school somewhere else? Thanks!
The school would most likely be more impressed with your undergraduate resume and gpa than what school you received your degree from. A 4.0 from Arkansas State will get you farther than a 3.1 from Stanford. That being said, there are other reasons you might want to pick a prestigious university. Networking can be crucial to long-term success in the professional and academic worlds.
Thank you! That's a very good point.
Well as long as you are happy with the school you are in nothing else matters because if you are happy then you will get good grades and a good GPA that being said there are certain upsides to attending a uni like Stanford or MIT. For example, you can form really good connections there and those connections could really help you in your professional career and later on in your life as well.
