While duke and northwestern does not have a specific undergraduate business school, both schools have excellent graduate business schools. So I was wondering if anyone had any insights on those two schools specifically any business programs/ degrees that would be worth pursing.
Or any additional schools to look at for someone who is interested in business management and analytics .
Hi @user681 , great question! Typically, at major research universities like Duke and Northwestern, there isn't an explicit "pre-business" program at the undergraduate level—that is to say, you can likely major in a variety subjects, even as you work toward the later goal of a graduate business degree. Also, at schools such as this, there is often a sort of trickle-down effect, whereby your proximity to these esteemed business schools allows for greater access to business or pre-business opportunities, even if you are not able to explicitly major in business at the undergraduate level.
If you're interested in these two universities specifically, I would start by exploring their undergraduate admissions websites, which likely contain sections aimed at someday-prospective business school applicants. As for additional schools to look at, I would recommend finding a few publications that offer business school rankings (e.g., US News' "2022 Best Business Schools") and comparing their rankings—you'll find that the top 20 ranked schools don't vary all that much, though the order of a few schools might be swapped here and there. This will give you a pretty good sense of what the top business schools in the country are. From there, I would recommend visiting the undergraduate (and maybe even graduate) admissions websites for the schools, which, as I mentioned before, will likely include some sections about the relationships between the undergraduate and graduate schools and programs.
I hope this is helpful, and good luck—you got this!
