STEM Schools

Does anyone know of any schools with good STEM programs, specifically math or life sciences, that aren't super prestigious and would be achievable for an average student? (I have an unweighted GPA of 3.6, 4.0 weighted).

Hi there @spencer00,

Great question! You can definitely find a lot of good STEM programs at top-tier schools. While your GPA is a bit low for an Ivy-caliber university, you have plenty of good options at the target level. I would suggest using our School List builder to explore schools: https://www.collegevine.com/schools/hub/school-list/sheet?via=school-list

We essentially create a spreadsheet for you based on your schools of interest. Our Admissions Difficulty tab will help you see your chances of getting in, and you can factor for things like Prestige when selecting your prospective colleges.

For now, though, I would suggest looking into highly-ranked public schools. For a number of reasons like larger class sizes, these usually have higher acceptance rates than elite private institutions, but are still great sources of education.

To narrow your search specifically for STEM, I would look into the ranking for specific majors on US News, filtering specifically for public schools or filtering out Ivies and other small, elite, private institutions.

Hope this helps and best of luck! Please let us know if you have questions about a specific school, major, or program!
