I'm a Sophomore in highschool and been told soooo many times that vet school is hard and competitive, but I've been given no real suggestions on what colleges might be the best for me to get into vet school? So far my list has Texas A&M as the main one (they have a vet school and college), but honestly I don't know where to start in looking for colleges.
I have a 3.7 GPA and got an 1130 on the PSAT (but am studying to HOPEFULLY improve that...). I don't have many notable extracurriculars besides Creative Writing Clubs, Horseback Riding, and Intermediate Band, so some recommendations on vet-related ones would be nice as well.
Thanks! :)
Have you considered UC Davis? They have the #1 veterinary medicine program, and many options for undergraduate majors and research opportunities. I would explore more on their undergraduate offerings, but keeping in mind their graduate school would be good when considering that they accept 20% of their graduate students from UC Davis. I attached some links so you can look into this college.
As for your extra-curricular try reaching out to the local veterinary hospitals and ask if they are looking for volunteers or interns. Don't be afraid to reach out to them, this would look good on applications if you show strong involvement in what you are interested in pursuing. You can even look at volunteering at the humane society.
