Hi! I am super interested in archaeology, but I am having trouble finding schools that aren't ivy league or semi-affordable. I talked with another archaeology major and she suggested studying "the classics". I am not completely sure what that means, but if it helps let me know.
Hi there, I’m in just the same situation you are and I hope that my answer will be of use considering that there’s little discussion on these subjects! You really have to go into some deep digging on college websites for information on archaeology programs. Some colleges will have archaeology as a subset of anthropology or classics that you can specialize in. Others have Ancient Studies that have archaeology courses as well. Here’s a list of more accessible colleges and universities that offer some sort of archaeology program not in any kind of order:
George Washington University
UNC Chapel Hill
Sewanee
Dickinson College
Bryn Mawr College
College of Wooster
Sweet Briar College
University of Washington
CU Boulder
Appalachian
Reed College
U Michigan
Many UCs
Brigham Young University
University of Evansville
University of Mizzou
Hunter CUNY
College of Charleston
UT Austin
Rutgers
Here’s a link to grad programs through the Archeological Institute of America. Many of these schools have excellent undergrad programs as well so this can guide you:

I hope this helped!
Classics are ancient greek and roman/Latin studies.
See this list for colleges: https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/archeology-major-4503
You won't see that many colleges for this major because most- if not all- have a PhD, meaning you are singularly devoted to archaeology.
