How many schools should I actually apply to.

This will help you select the institutions you are most interested in and ensure you have a broad range of colleges to choose from. The majority of people apply to roughly 5-15 schools, but everyone has different goals.

I am also a sophmore going through the college crisis so you're not alone! Some advice that has been helpful to me is to make a list of things that you know you HAVE to have in your college. For example, if you know you want to go to school in a certain state. Once you have done this, I would sign up for a lot of college websites. One thing that I have heard a lot is not to limit yourself. Maybe try applying to a school that's kind of "out there" just to see what happens. Once you have found schools you like, you should make a list of schools that you are very likely to get into (safety schools), the schools you want to go to and it's pretty realistic (target schools), and schools that you like but you know there's not the best chance of getting into (reach schools). And then make sure you apply to at least one of each, but in reality, you can apply to as many as you want.
